K of C Ultrasound Grant to Anderson Pregnancy Care

Your Knights of Columbus vigorously defends the dignity of each human being at every stage of life. Here in Anderson, your Council 8295and the parishes of St. Joseph and St. Mary are working together to build a culture of life and a civilization of love. Toward that end, we are delighted to announce that the Knights will be providing a grant of over $25,000 to Anderson Pregnancy Care center which will be used to purchase a new, state-of-the-art ultrasound machine for use in their pro-life pregnancy counseling services. Anderson Pregnancy Care is a Christ-centered nonprofit organization aiding those women who believe themselves to be facing an untimely pregnancy. The center exists to minister to these women and their families with the love and compassion of Jesus Christ, providing positive, life-affirming alternatives to abortion.

The grant is made possible from funds raised locally over the last 12 months, much of it from the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council's Culture of Life Fund. This will be the 20th Ultrasound unit funded by the Knights in South Carolina. Across the world, the Knights have placed approximately 1,000 machines to facilitate fetal ultrasounds (sonogram). It is estimated that since the program's inception in the year 2000, over 20,000 babies' lives have been saved in South Carolina alone!

THis is a concrete step that will save the lives right here in Anderson and help vulnerable women choose life by giving them the opportunity to view their unborn children on the new ultrasound machine and participate in the wonderful life-affirming educational and support programs offered by Anderson Pregnancy Care.

Please consider showing your support for this initiativeby attending the grant presentation ceremony scheduled to take place at Anderson Pregnancy Care (1303 North Murray Ave) on Columbus Day, Monday, October 14 at 4 PM. Executive Director, Audrey Shaw, will be happy to give tours of the center and explain the many services offered.
